Associate Emergency Management Coordinator
Felis Kennedy has served as Associate Director for the Department of Safety Services since January, 2008, and has most recently been appointed as Associate Emergency Management Coordinator for TTUHSC. Prior to joining Safety Services, Felis served as Environmental Protection Manager and Environmental Engineer for 8 years for the Environmental Health and Safety department at Texas Tech University.
Her responsibilities include assisting the Director in the management and operation of the Department of Safety Services as well as providing managerial oversight and direction to Lubbock and Regional Campuses Safety Managers and administration in matters relating to safety and regulatory compliance.
As the Associate Emergency Management Coordinator Felis will assist the Emergency Management Coordinator to ensure that TTUHSC personnel are prepared for and appropriately trained to respond to and mitigate emergency situations as well as support in the development of an integrated emergency management plan.
Felis has more than 20 years experience in engineering, serving as civil/structural engineer in power plant design and construction and 10 years in environmental engineering. She received her BS degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas in El Paso and is currently registered as a Professional Engineer in the state of Texas. Felis is a certified Environmental Site Assessor, Lead Abatement Supervisor and Hazardous Waste and Material Manager. She is an active member of the National Society of Professional Engineers and the American Society of Safety Engineering and currently chairs the Chemical Task Force Committee at TTUHSC.
Felis is the author of the Wiley Dictionary for Engineering and Construction published through Wiley and Sons, 1996.
