Miguel is a Senior Safety Officer in the Occupational Safety division of Safety Services. He has been with the department for almost four years. Miguel worked for TTUHSC for a 22-year period prior to these past four years. He has also worked in another state office as a Parole Officer and a Safety Officer for 3 years. Mike has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Wayland Baptist University in Police Administration, with a minor in Sociology. He is a certified Texas Peace Officer and a retired State Parole Officer. In our office, Miguel handles the Health and safety review program, conducts Safety inspections of the facilities, investigates and reports on incident/accident activity at the HSC, conducts ergonomic evaluations, and instructs faculty, staff, residents, and students on how to use the N-95 respirator. Mike worked for the Texas Tech Health Sciences Center Police Department for 22 years, from Feb 1976 until Feb 1998, attaining the rank of Police Major and served as Assistant Director for the Department. He tells us that some of the greatest years of his life were the four years he spent in the United States Air Force and is glad to be back at TTUHSC.
