The Texas Tech Health Sciences Centers (TTUHSC) fire marshals are responsible for the fire and life safety of staff, faculty, students, visitors and patients who work, teach, attend class, seek medical attention, or visit any one of our many facilities. Mike has worked with James Kirkland as the TTUHSC fire marshal for the last 20 years. Together the TTUHSC Fire Marshal's Office has established a Code driven fire prevention and life safety programs for all of the HSC facilities. This program requires an extensive knowledge of fire, life safety and building codes. Mike has dedicated hundreds of hours to Code study and has attended many seminars to stay abreast of the ever-changing Code requirements. Mike has an associates degree in Fire Technology, is State certified as a Master Firefighter, Master Fire inspector, Master Fire Arson Investigator, Intermediate Fire Instructor, and Commissioned Peace Officer. Previous to becoming a TTUHSC fire marshal, Mike worked as a professional firefighter for 24 years for the Lubbock Fire Department.
