This year's speaker is Col. Glenn A. Yap, Col, USAF, MSC, Ph.D., presenting, "The Military Health System: Will the Latest Transformation Efforts to Save a $50 Billion Health Care Program Work?”
Yap is an administrator in the 59th Medical Wing at Lackland Air Force Base. The medical wing oversees the Air Force’s largest medical facility with more than 6,010 military and civilian medical personnel, more than 600 students and a varied mission that includes health care, readiness, graduate medical education and clinical investigations. He directly manages the wing’s financial and human resource programs and has broad oversight of all administrative programs, including environment of care, facility infrastructure, and information management. Yap leads a staff of 85 personnel and oversees a $315 million annual operations budget.
Yap was commissioned in the U.S. Air Force in 1989. He has served in assignments in the continental United States and overseas. As a Medical
Service Corps officer, his functional specialty is resource management. He
has served at the base and air staff levels of operation. Yap recently graduated from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces at the National Defense University in Fort McNair, District of Columbia.
