The Texas Tech University Presidential Lecture and Performance Series opens its 2012 season with National Book Award winning author and Pulitzer Prize winning journalist, Timothy Egan, on Friday, October 12th at 7:00 pm in the Allen Theatre, located in the Student Union Building (SUB) of Texas Tech University.
Author of six books, The Worst Hard Time: The Untold Story of Those Who Survived the Great American Dust Bowl, earned Timothy Egan a National Book Award for non-fiction in 2006. Considered one of the highest literary honors, the award recognizes his account of those who survived the Dust Bowl of the 1930’s. Thought to be the worst ecological disaster in American history, this book provided the source material for filmmaker Ken Burns’ PBS documentary, The Dust Bowl, airing November 18 & 19 on KTTZ-TV.
There will be an opportunity to meet Timothy Egan at a book signing immediately following the lecture.
General Admission tickets are $15.00 and are available through all Select-A-Seat locations (806) 770-2000 or www.selectaseatlubbock.com.
