Free Clinic Offered for Fall Women’s Health Day

School of Medicine students will host a Women’s Health Day free clinic from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 27 at the Lubbock IMPACT/TTUHSC Free Clinic, 2707 34th St.

The facility is a non-billing clinic where people without medical insurance can be seen for various medical problems. Patients of all ages from mostly lower income backgrounds are seen on a first-come, first-served basis. Women’s health services are not normally offered during these hours.

The Women’s Health Day clinic will provide medical services such as pelvic exams and pap smears, STD screenings, a self-breast exam workshop, pregnancy tests and prenatal referrals as well as referrals for bone density screenings and mammograms.

Kelly Bennett, M.D., serves as the clinic’s medical director, and Fiona Prabhu, M.D., is the assistant medical director. Both are from the Department of Family and Community Medicine.

Transportation is available by request. For transportation, to make an appointment or for more information, call (806) 337-2098.

Lubbock IMPACT provides the building in which the clinic operates. The clinic is fully funded by donations from the local community. Lubbock IMPACT collects a large majority of monetary and equipment donations.
