Have you been diagnosed with prostate cancer?
If you have been diagnosed with low or intermediate risk prostate cancer, you may qualify for an investigational single radiation implant treatment, using high dose rate brachytherapy. This investigational treatment is available through the Department of Radiation Oncology at the Southwest Cancer Center in conjunction with the Department of Urology at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. This treatment option is offered to qualified candidates as an alternative to conventional treatments such as surgery or standard external beam radiation. Potential candidates for this treatment must be at least 50 years old and diagnosed with low or intermediate risk prostate cancer. You may not have been previously treated with chemotherapy, hormone therapy nor had any surgical procedures performed on the prostate. This treatment is covered under Medicare.
