THE PRESIDENTIAL LECTURE AND PERFORMANCE SERIES PRESENTS THE TWICE GRAMMY NOMINATED LATIN JAZZ PIANIST NACHITO HERRERA
Twice Grammy nominated Latin jazz pianist Nachito Herrera on Friday, March 1st at 7:00 pm in the Allen Theatre, located in the Student Union Building of Texas Tech University.
Widely recognized as a young genius in his native Cuba, Nachito Herrera made his world debut at the age of twelve, performing Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2 with the Havana Symphony Orchestra. During the 1990’s he was the Music Director at the Tropicana in Havana and of the famed jazz group Cubanismo. In 2001, he moved to the United States and has toured the United States extensively as a member of The Afro Cuban All Stars and has appeared at the Omaha Jazz & Blues Festival and at the North Sea Jazz Festival, Montreaux Jazz Festival with Cubanismo and has performed at other jazz festivals in Granada, St. Lucia, Chicago, and San Jose.
There will be an opportunity to meet Herrera at a CD signing immediately following the concert.
