OLLI presents "The God Particle-A New Frontier in Physics"-Apr. 1 & 4

In a manner accessible to everyone, the experimental and theoretical aspects of this research will be presented. Results from the European Laboratory for Particle Physics (CERN) indicate existence of an anticipated particle that helps us understand the nature of mass in the universe. This so-called Higgs, or popularly dubbed “God,” particle is now being experimentally investigated using the most sophisticated detectors ever built at the highest energy accelerator in the world. Dr. Nural Akchurin, professor of physics at Texas Tech, and Dr. Sung-Won Lee, associate professor of physics at Texas Tech, will lead these discussions.
