Medical Students to Host Annual Gala and Golf Tournament
School of Medicine first-year students will host the 16th Annual Lubbock CityLights Charity Ball and 9th Annual Golf Tournament.
The golf tournament is scheduled for lunch at noon with the tournament beginning at 1:30 p.m. May 2 at The Rawls Course at Texas Tech located at 3720 4th St. The charity ball will take place at 6:30 p.m. May 4 at the Lubbock Country Club, at 2322 Mac Davis Lane.
Tickets for the Lubbock City Lights Golf Tournament are $85 for students and $145 for individuals. Tickets for a team of four are $300 for students or $500 for non-students. Prices for the Lubbock City Lights Charity Ball are $110 for individuals and $60 for students. Cost for a table of 10 is $1,000.
The supported charities include:
UMC Children’s Hospital/Miracle Network: UMC and CMN have been able to provide state-of-the-art medical equipment and comprehensive services to the children of the South Plains and eastern New Mexico for more than 27 years.
TTUHSC Student-Run Free Clinic: an urgent care clinic that seeks to provide free basic health care to the working poor and homeless population of Lubbock and together enhance student education through community service. Health care services are offered at no cost to the patient.
Family Promise of Lubbock: helps provide the tools needed for homeless families with children to achieve financial and personal self-sufficiency. This organization is linked with a national organization, and is one of 112 establishments across 36 states. It offers supportive services, temporary housing and case management to accomplish its mission of self-sufficiency for families.
Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children or CASA of the South Plains : recruits, trains and supports a diverse community of volunteers who advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected children in the foster care system. The vision of CASA is a CASA volunteer for every child who strives to secure a safe, nurturing, permanent environment for every child.
This year’s golf tournament will include a four person scramble, a hole-in-one contest, and much more! All participants will receive a goody bag with different golf items. Lunch and range balls are included.
The Lubbock City Lights Charity Ball will feature live and silent auctions accompanying dinner, drinks and dancing!
Past Lubbock City Lights events have raised more than $300,000 for charities directly benefiting the Lubbock community. Lubbock City Lights is organized by the TTUHSC School of Medicine Class of 2016.
