Dia de los Muertos Celebration `Calaveras` (sugar skull) Workshop

Making calaveras (sugar skulls) is one tradition practiced Oct. 31-Nov. 2. This holiday is a period full of happiness, color, food, family, and fun. It is a time to celebrate the lives of friends and relatives who have passed away. A workshop was held in November to learn about this culture.
A voluntary donation of $3 was requested which will be used for GRACE, our after school health science program taught at 4 Lubbock middle schools.

culture day participantsSOM Celebrates Multicultural Wednesday

The Student National Medical Association (SNMA) hosted Multicultural Wednesday on April 15. Students were asked to come to class either fully or partially dressed in a cultural outfit or to swap attire with a classmate from another culture. Pictured on the right are several of the MSI students who chose to participate in the event. The event, which led up to SNMA's Roshni Banquet, was an opportunity for medical students to celebrate the diversity of cultures present at TTUHSC.
