CNNT LogoTraining Programs for Patients and Their Caregivers

For the patient - topics include symptom management, diagnoses, understanding cancer, cancer treatments, dealing with physical changes, rebuilding mind and body, challenge of cancer and the workplace, living day-to-day, emotional trials, survivorship, and transition planning.

For the caregiver - caregiving and cancer, caring for the cancer patient, taking time for you, role changes, managing quality of life, cooking cancer and nutritional support, creating respite care networks, caregiver resources on the World Wide Web.


Details

Community

Where: Any community in Texas - This program is provided free of charge to participants. Basic needs include a room suitable for 10-20 people - such as a church, community center, hospital or clinic, hotel meeting facility, etc. Audio/Visual support is provided along with take home educational materials.

When: Morning, Afternoon or Early Evening - allow three hours. Planning can be accomplished in two weeks and program delivered in four weeks.



Why: To help those living with cancer to cope with the challenges and to overcome the obstacles to achieving the highest quality of recovery.

Who: The Cancer Nutrition Network for Texans, The University of Texas Medical Branch and the Texas Cancer Council. Local sponsorship is welcome and will be acknowledged in all presentations and materials.
