Roxanne Marie Tyroch, M.D.

Roxanne Marie Tyroch, M.D.

Dr. Tyroch received her undergraduate training from Arizona State University and her medical degree from the University of Arizona. She is an Assistant Professor of General Internal Medicine and is the lead contractor and primary endoscopist for the project on a volunteer basis since 1999. Dr. Tyroch is the founder of the TTUHSC-El Paso Colorectal Cancer Screening project. She has served on the Colorectal Cancer Committee for the Texas Division of the American Cancer Society and is the chair of the El Paso Colorectal Cancer Screening Steering Committee. She has attended a national roundtable for leaders in colorectal cancer screening sponsored by the Cancer Research Foundation of America and the American Digestive Health Foundation. She has presented abstracts pertaining to colorectal cancer screening at the local, state and national level. She has written scientific and service grants for the project, securing over $390,000 in funding for the project. She has provided scientific oversight for the operations of the project. A portion of her salary will be funded by project grant as of July 2002.

Leroy Kim, M.D.

After completing his undergraduate studies at Northwestern University, Dr. Kim completed training for his medical degree at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine - Madison. He received his residency training in combined internal medicine and pediatrics at William Beaumont Army Medical Center, El Paso, Texas. Dr. Kim is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine, Texas Tech University School of Medicine in El Paso, where he performs and teaches residents flexible sigmoidoscopy. Dr. Kim studies the compliance to colorectal cancer screening at the U.S. Mexico border. Dr. Kim is a physician member of the El Paso Colorectal Cancer Screening Steering Committee.







Saket Prasad, M.D.

Saket Prasad, M.D.

Dr. Prasad is a graduate of Leeds Medical School in Leeds, England. His residency was performed at Our Lady of Mercy Medical Center in Bronx, NY. In 1987 he was awarded the Medical Research Council Award (UK). In May 2000, he was involved with the publication accepted for the AGA titled Gastric Intestinal Metaplasia with Colonic Phenotype, as Detected by a Novel Biomaker, mAB DAS-1, is Highly Associated with Gastric Carcinoma. He presented an Abstract titled Difficult to Manage Cases in Hepatitis C, at the 10th Annual GI Symposium (UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School) - Atlantic City, NJ







Oscar Noriega, M.D.

Oscar Noriega, M.D.

Dr. Noriega is a graduate of the University of California - San Francisco School of Medicine, 1977. Family practice residency at UC-Irvine. Certified by the American Board of Family Practice. Fellowship in faculty development, 1995-96. Dr. Noriega is the department's Director of Telemedicine. His research interests include diabetes, development of residents' computer skills, geriatrics, adolescent medicine, and telemedicine He serves on the TTUHSC Admissions Committee and is a member of AAFP, TAFP, STFM, the Inter-American College of Physicians and Surgeons and the Christian Medical and Dental Society. Dr. Noriega resides with wife and four children. He enjoys playing tennis and being an active member of the Harvest Christian Center. Dr. Noriega is a endoscopist for the Department of Family Medicine.






Lorenzo Aragon, M.D.

Dr. Aragon is a graduate of the National Autonomous University of Nicaragua, 1981. Family practice residency at Texas Tech-El Paso. Dr. Aragon is the Family Center Medical Director. Obstetrics and diabetes are his special interests. He is an active member of AAFP, TAFP, STFM. He will complete his fellowship in Family Medicine Faculty Development in April, 2000. Dr. Aragon and his wife have three daughters. He enjoys playing tennis. Dr. Aragon is an endoscopist for the Department of Family Medicine.









Dr. Samuel F. Romero-Ramos

Dr. Samuel F. Romero-Ramos received his medical degree from the Escuela Medico Militar in Mexico and the Facultad de Medicina, U.N.A.M. , Ciudad Universitaria in Mexico . He completed his Residency at R. E. Thomason General Hospital in El Paso, Texas. He was an Instructor for Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center – Internal Medicine Department. In the past he was affiliated with the Texas Medical Association, the American College of Physicians, Southwest Association of Hispanic American Physicians and the American Diabetes Association. He is in the process of developing an infrastructure for colorectal cancer screening as outpatient services at Thomason Cares at Ysleta Clinic.







Geetha Jonnala, M.D.

Geetha Jonnala, M.D.

Geetha Jonnala, M.D. completed her medical education at MRMC in Karnataka, India. She worked at Texas Tech University HSC as a research volunteer from October 2001 - April 2002. She has volunteered as a technical writer in various ongoing projects. Geetha has participated as a poster presenter at The Border Health Conference in El Paso, Texas; and also at the Annual Conference of Association of Teachers for Preventive Medicine in Washington D.C. Geetha will be a first year resident in Internal Medicine starting July 1, at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, El Paso.
