Welcome to the Diabetes Research Center

In the year 2000, the Texas Legislature (House Bill No. 2510) created the Texas Tech University Diabetes Research Center (TTDRC) in El Paso, Texas. The Diabetes Research Center in El Paso will serve as a center of excellence in the prevention and control of diabetes in the West Texas-Mexico border through epidemiological and clinical research, health education and professional development, and will provide the researcher with resources and updated data for state of the art diagnosis and management of the disease.

It is our objective that this website will serve the researcher as the one source for well-documented and reliable data on regional mortality rates, hospital discharges, disease prevalence, and risk factors distribution.

TTDRC will help in the education of future physicians and other healthcare professionals through curriculum and course development, and competency testing for medical students and resident physicians in identifying, treating, and referral/counseling of diabetes.
