Type-2 diabetes among Hispanic Children Aged 9-17 Years Old Living in El Paso
A SOM Seed Grant Application will be submitted to NIH to study through a population-based approach 1) the prevalence of the disease, obesity, body fat and Acanthosis Nigricans (see bottom picture) distribution, and family history of diabetes, and 2) the family genetic markers for type-2 diabetes.
The genetic study will be conducted by the Pathology Department at TTUHSC El Paso.
