Emergency Medicine
Division of EMS
Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center - El Paso, Division of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) within the Department of Emergency Medicine provides Medical Direction to the City of El Paso Emergency Responders and Paramedics, QA/QI, Infection control and CE's as well as providing specialty courses (ACLS, PPPC, ITLS, PALS, AMLS, and BLS (CPR). The Division provides to the City of El Paso Paramedicine Courses lasting 6 months with a curriculum containing over 1200 hours of instruction. The EMS Division dates back from 1978, when it was under the Department of Surgery. In 1993, the Division was transferred to the Department of Emergency Medicine, where it resides to date.
