SALARY
Contracts are issued through Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center at El Paso for all training programs. The following indicates the annual salary for each of the PGY levels for the current academic year 2008-2009:
PGY 1 $42,247.00
PGY 2 $43,626.00
PGY 3 $45,003.00
PGY 4 $46,380.00
PGY 5 $47,757.00
Residents are eligibile for membership in the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center Federal Credit Union and can save for retirement and reduce their current tax liability by participating in the Tax Sheltered annuity program. Please call the GME Office, 545-5760, for details.
INSURANCE
Health, Dental, Vision, Life, Long Term Disability
Residents and their dependents are provided with health, dental, vision, life, and long term disability insurances with premiums paid by Texas Tech.
The health insurance provider is the Insurance Management Service and dental provider is Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas. For coverage details please visit http://www.imstpa.com & http://www.BCBSTX.COM These providers include physicians from Texas Tech University & it's affiliate hospital, R.E. Thomason General Hospital. Coverage for inpatient and out patient psychiatric care is included in the plan. In addition, there is a Residents Assistance Program(RAP) which offers up to five free sessions to residents and their dependents. MALPRACTICE INSURANCE

OTHER AMENITIES
- Texas Tech University and the affiliate hospital share the cost of parking at the hospital parking garage.
- The affiliated hospital also provides: On call quarters, stipend for meals, and lab coats and laundry services.
