House Staff Benefits

The general guidelines set by the GME Committee for annual vacation leave is 15 working days for PGY-I and II levels and 20 working days for all other PGY levels. This leave is not accruable and must be used during the resident year.

Educational leave is set at five working days per year and is not accruable. Educational leave CANNOT be linked with vacation/sick leave or vice versa.

The residents are allowed 12 sick days per year. This leave is accruable and the balance carries forward from one year to the next.

TTUHSC pays the premiums for health, dental, term life and disability insurance coverage. For details of insurance coverage for residents and their dependents please see "TTUHSC Housestaff Policies and Procedures" handout.

Coverage for residents is at the level of $100,000-$300,000 while participating in TTUHSC sponsored training activities. Residents must provide their own coverage for remunerative medical activity not a part of the training program (moonlighting).
