Application Process
Surgery Residency Program
Texas Tech participates in the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP). To apply for a resident position, applicants must submit the following through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).
- Curriculum Vitae
- Personal Statement
- Completed TTUHSC application or ERAS application
- Official medical school transcript
- Dean's letter from the medical school of graduation
- Three additional letters of recommendation
- Medical school diploma
- Applicant must pass the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) Step I & Step II (both parts: clinical knowledge and clinical skills)
with a score of 190 or higher.
You will be invited for an interview after your application is reviewed and complete. Only a certain number of applicants will be interviewed during the months of October through January.
Note to international medical graduates:
- If the document is foreign language, an official word-for-word translation on official letterhead stationery must be provided. It must be prepared by any of the following: Government official, official translation agency College/University official
- ECFMG Certification is required, if you are not a permanent resident or US citizen and you are accepted for residency training through the Education.
- The exchange visitor J1 is the Visa accepted for residency training at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center
- A copy of license to practice medicine in the country where the applicant graduated from medical school must be provided
