University Breast Care Center (UBCC)

WELCOME

Welcome to the University Breast Care Center at the El Paso campus of the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center.

MISSION/GOAL

Breast cancer is an obvious national concern.

Our goal is (1) to maintain a center for the multidisciplinary evaluation and treatment of breast disease, including same day consultation by surgery, medical oncology, and radiation therapy; 2) to provide no cost/low cost screening mammography to the medically disenfranchised patient population; 3) to provide education in the evaluation and treatment of breast disease; 4) to participate in research, including participation in national clinical trials and independent faculty research; and 5) to create an environment for multicultural health education on breast disease.

There are over 100,000 women over the age of 40 in El Paso. Approximately one quarter of them live below the national poverty level (1996) data. These patients are the target population of the University Breast Care Center.
