Welcome to the School of Nursing. Our goal is to provide the education you need for an advanced nursing career in academic leadership, professional nursing organizations, health service systems and other health-related enterprises.
El Paso students can benefit from a wide-array of classes offered through Lubbock’s Anita Thigpen School of Nursing but offered right here in El Paso at the Gayle Greve Hunt School of Nursing Campus! The Anita Thigpen School of Nursing offers an exciting Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree Program to help you meet these challenges. The courses are accessible on the web, so you have access to academic education by computer at work or at home, wherever or whenever you want to study. Our faculty are ready to build on your experience by examining new trends and theories, exploring critical issues, emphasizing applicable professional nursing practices and incorporating concepts of holistic care. * Currently, applicants must go through the School of Nursing at Lubbock. Our Graduate Programs are recognized for innovative approaches to nursing education at master's, post master's and doctoral levels. This combined with our values of professionalism, integrity and quality have allowed us to create lifelong learning opportunities for the nursing professional.
We offer specialized nursing preparation at the master’s level in administration, education, and practitioner roles. Our Nurse Practitioner Program, offered at our El Paso, Highland Lakes, Lubbock and Permian Basin campuses, focuses on practice specialization in family, acute care, geriatric and pediatrics.
At the doctoral level, we are extremely proud to offer the only Doctor of Nursing Practice program in which advanced nurse practitioners can select from two tracks of study that will prepare them for complex practice and executive leadership roles or clinical faculty positions in nursing schools. Our students can also participate in a collaborative Ph.D. in Nursing program with Texas Woman’s University.
