El Paso students can benefit from a wide-array of classes offered through Lubbock’s Anita Thigpen School of Nursing but offered right here in El Paso at the Gayle Greve Hunt School of Nursing Campus! The TTUHSC School of Nursing Nurse-Midwifery Program is a full time, distance education program that requires 48 semester hours (two years) for degree completion. Courses are online or web-enhanced. Web-enhanced courses combine both online and face-to-face classroom study/learning activities. All clinical experience learning hours (4 courses) completed in the Nurse-Midwifery population focus courses occur in El Paso. Travel to Lubbock is required for student orientation, and the advanced skills and health assessment practicum. The average cost per semester hour is between $300 and $400. Upon completion of the degree graduates qualify to take the American Midwifery Certification Board exam. Currently, applicants must still go through the School of Nursing at Lubbock. The MSN Nurse-Midwifery Program is currently pending approval before the Texas High Education Coordinating Board.
