Dr. Miguel Samonte Jr. graduated from the University of Santo Tomas, Faculty of Medicine and Surgery in Manila, Phillipines. He received his post graduate training in Pediatrics from Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center in New York in 1993 and his post graduate training in Anesthesiology from Beth Israel Medical Center in New York in 1996. Dr Samonte is board eligible in Pediatrics and Anesthesiology. He served as a Private Practice Anesthesiologist in El Paso from 1996 until he decided to join TTUHSC in 2007. |

This 8 week rotation serves as an introduction to general principles of perioperative anesthetic care for the CA-1 resident. The resident will begin to develop skills in preoperative assessment of surgical patients, preoperative medical management, intraoperative care, PACU/ICU transfers and postoperative care. The resident will be introduced to the OR team environment.
