Jean Jean-Pierre, MD Faculty Associate
CA-1
This rotation is a one month rotation at University Medical Center for the CA-1 residents in Anesthesiology.
In the PACU the anesthesiologist has primary responsibility for managing patients during emergence and recovery from anesthesia. Patients may face issues such as pain management, abnormal hemodynamic status, changing neurological status, nausea and vomiting, confirmation of central line placements, and other serious post operative complications. The anesthesiologist arranges for appropriate consultations and must be able to communicate with those consultants in an informed manner. Anesthesiologists set the standards for discharge and make the assessments on when and where patients may be discharged from the PACU.
