First Regional Clinical Simulation Conference at TTUHSC El Paso
One hundred and twenty participants recently attended the first regional TTUHSC at El Paso Paul L. Foster School of Medicine "Clinical Simulation: A shifting paradigm for sustainable clinical proficiency of 21st century healthcare practitioners". The event was a collaborative program with the Gayle Greve Hunt School of Nursing, Paul L. Foster School of Medicine Advanced Teaching and Assessment in Clinical Simulation Center (ATACS), and University Medical Center of El Paso.
Billed as a simulation workshop for strengthening and sustaining clinical proficiency, the program was designed for physicians, physician extenders, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, registered nurses, medical trainees and trainers, residents, students, sonographer technicians, and other interested healthcare practitioners. Sessions were offered in clinical, nursing, OB/GYN and primary care, and participants had hands-on-practice with experts in state-of-the-art clinical simulators in developing and assessing clinical competence.
The program is scheduled to become an annual event say planning committee members.
