Charles C. Miller, III, Ph.D., also holds appointments as professor of Biomedical Sciences, chair of Biomedical Sciences and associate dean for the Graduate School of BioSciences in collaboration with TTUHSC-Lubbock.
Prior to joining Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center Paul L. Foster School of Medicine, he was professor and vice chair for research in the Department of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery, University of Texas-Houston, Health Sciences Center and Medical School. He also held appointments as professor at the Center for Clinical Research and Evidence Based Medicine, and as a professor of epidemiology at the University of Texas-Houston School of Public Health.
After two years in the biotechnology industry, Dr. Miller first began his academic career at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston in 1993 as assistant professor in the Department of Medicine, Pulmonary/Critical Care Section and Design and Analysis Unit. He then held the position of chief of the Division of Clinical Research and Outcomes, Department of Surgery, also at Baylor until 1999. He was associate professor and then professor and vice chair for research in the Department of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery at the University of Texas Medical School in Houston from 1999 until his recruitment to Texas Tech in 2009.

The Paul L. Foster School of Medicine is one of six schools that make up the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC).Texas Tech University System. The President of TTUHSC reports to the Chancellor, who is the Chief Executive Officer of the System. The Chancellor and the President are responsible to the Texas Tech University Board of Regents, which sets overall policy for the Texas Tech University System, Texas Tech University, and TTUHSC.
