Internal Medicine
Associate Program Director
Dear Interested Applicants:
We have an excellent program that provides our residents with a strong foundation of internal medicine which prepares them for either fellowship training or internal medicine practice. Approximately half of our residents each year choose to do fellowships and the others enter private practice or academic medicine.
Our residents rotate through El Paso's county hospital, outpatient indigent care clinics, private clinics, and outpatient clinics at William Beaumont Army Medical Hospital. These diverse experiences give the residents the opportunity to see a wide variety of diseases in patients who come from all backgrounds. Our faculty is dedicated to teaching and we are committed to producing well-trained internists.
Our residents have the opportunity to do clinical research projects with a faculty mentor. We then encourage and assist them in the publication of their work. Our new state-of-the-art research facility and four year medical school will also enhance our program's research abilities.
The border city of El Paso is an excellent community to join. We have extraordinarily beautiful weather throughout the year, a low cost of living, and a very low crime rate. There are a wide variety of cultural events as well as recreational activities available.
We hope that you will find this site useful to you in considering a residency program.
Sincerely,
Tamis Bright, MD
Assistant Program Director
