Medical Student ProgramThe Medical Student Program at the Department of Neurology is directed by Albert Cuetter, MD.
The Neurology Clerkship is a 4 week required rotation that includes both inpatient and outpatient experiences. The student will have 1 hour of didactics per day followed by outpatient clinic time and 4 hours of inpatient care.
In Outpatient Clinics, the student has experience with the following clinic types:
• General Neurology
• Parkinson Clinic
• Epilepsy Clinic
• Electrodiagnosis (EMG)
• Basis of Geriatric Medicine relevant to Neurology
• Stroke Clinic
In Inpatient, the student has experience with the following:
• General Neurology
• Neurological complications of systemic diseases
• Stroke rounds
• Stroke rehabilitation
• Electrodiagnosis (EEG, Evoked Potentials)
The primary purpose of the Clinical Neuroscience Clerkship is to provide the medical student with the ability to perform a neurological interview and examination, interpret signs, consolidate symptoms and signs into syndromes, accurately diagnoses neurological diseases, and identify appropriate evidence-based management strategies.
The Neurology rotation has an average of 4 Faculty members and 4 residents from other clinics that rotate monthly. These residents are from Internal Medicine, Family Medicine and Psychiatry.
