Betsy Portugal, CNM
Betsy Portugal, is a Faculty Associate and Staff Certified Nurse-Midwife in the Department of OB/GYN at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center-El Paso. She is certified by the American College of Nurse-Midwives. She received her Bachelor's and Masters of Science degree in Nursing from the University of Texas-El Paso.
Ms. Portugal offers Nurse-Midwifery care to healthy women throughout their life span. She has a specialized interest in teen pregnancy and well-woman and adolescent GYN care. She sees patients at the Texas Tech out-patient clinic and attends births and follow-up care at Thomason Hospital.
Rachel Hyde, CNM, MS
Rachel Hyde is a Faculty Associate and Certified Nurse-Midwife in the Department of OB/GYN at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in El Paso. She received her nursing degree from Baylor University School of Nursing in Dallas, Texas. Mrs. Hyde obtained her Masters degree from Texas Women's University in Dallas, Texas and was certified by the American College of Nurse Midwives in 2005 after attending Parkland School of Nurse-Midwifery in Dallas, Texas. Before joining the team of midwives at Texas Tech, Mrs. Hyde served women at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, Texas. In El Paso, she continues working with women toward their optimal health from pre-conceptual care through prenatal care, birth and postpartum family planning. Mrs. Hyde takes special interest in serving the teenage population and medical missions.
