The hotline provides social service information and physician coverage in the evenings and weekends. Hotline physicians use established protocols to help parents who call. Characteristics of the hotline include:
- Services provided are free of charge
- All communication between parents and social workers or physicians is confidential
- Hotline assistance is available 24-hours a day
- Social service calls are answered by bilingual staff
- Medical calls are answered by Texas Tech medical professionals
- Parent/teen conflicts are addressed
- Services are available to every child from birth to the age of 21 years
