Staff
Because babies have special needs, they are admitted to UMC of El Paso's Special Care Nurseries. The Special Care Nurseries are comprised of the Intensive Care Nursery (ICN) and the Intermediate Care Nursery (IMCN), where specially trained healthcare teams will care for babies.
Visiting
Visits are limited to parents and grandparents only or mother and one significant other. Significant other will be required to bring a picture identification every visit. Special visitation allowances may be granted with approval of the management team. You will be asked to show your bracelet each time you visit and you will be asked for the bracelet number when you call for information. To protect your baby's confidentiality, information will be available to mothers only over the phone.
Daily Doctor Rounds
All doctors make daily rounds to discuss the treatment for each baby in the nursery. These rounds occur between 9:00am and 1:00pm Monday through Friday unless otherwise indicated by the nurse. Weekends and Holiday rounds vary.
If you would like to have a conference with the healthcare team to discuss your baby's status, please contact you baby's nurse to coordinate a conference.
