How to Become a Volunteer
The Teen Program includes youth 14 to 17 years of age and requires parental signatures. The regular Volunteer Program is for anyone over 18 years of age.
Process for Becoming a Volunteer
Step 1. Submit a volunteer application.
Step 2. Pre-screen phone interview - The Volunteer Services Department will contact you by phone to ask a few preliminary questions. During this phone call, we will schedule your personal interview and orientation.
Step 3. Attend Personal Inteview and Orientation.
Personal Interview - your interests, availability and potential assignments will be discussed.
Health Clearance - submit current immunization record - 2 MMR boosters (measles, mumps, rubella), Td booster (tetanus diphtheria) within 10 years and complete TB Questionnaire.
Photo ID - Texas ID issued by the Department of Public Safety (DPS), Visa or Passport.
Orientation - held bi-monthly on Mondays from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Dates may vary. Topics covered: Policy and Procedures, Health Insurance Portability; and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and IT Awareness. You will be issued a Volunteer ID number for the online Safety Orientation.
Step 4. Start Date - upon completion of Steps 1 - 3, you will come to the Volunteer Services Department to review volunteer handbook, i.e., dress code, safety procedures, timesheets, parking and obtain your official volunteer identification badge.
