Funding for International Programs for Students

The Office of Global Health (OGH) offers two different funding sources to help supplement the cost of TTUHSC sponsored international programs. To qualify for the funding, students must participate in an international program that is part of their degree program. Students must receive academic credit or academic recognition for the international program, and the international program must be approved by the student’s school and the Office of Global Health.

International Education Fee Award (IEFA)

The international education fee is a $4 institutional fee collected each semester. Monies in the fund are used to assist students who participate in international student exchange or study programs that are part of their degree program.

Two disbursements of IEFA are established each academic year for programs occurring in the spring and the summer. If necessary, a third disbursement for fall programs may be established. Information about the availability of funds, including the established deadline for all applications will be e-mailed to all students. For information about the application process or upcoming application deadlines, please contact OGH.

To be eligible to receive an award students must:

  • Submit an application with supporting documentation to OGH by the established deadline. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.
  • Be enrolled full time and in good academic standing. International students must be enrolled in the required number of credit hours to maintain their immigration status. All students must be able to provide proof of enrollment.

Next application deadline: Summer 2014 applications are due Wednesday, March 26, 2014 by 4:00 pm CT

Beyond Borders, Beyond Measure Scholarship (BBBM)

The Beyond Borders, Beyond Measure Scholarship is another funding opportunity available for students participating in one of our international programs. Each fall students submit photographs for the annual Beyond Borders, Beyond Measure photography exhibit. The photographs are sold at the exhibit and the proceeds go toward supporting TTUHSC international programs. The number of available scholarships and scholarship amounts vary by year. For information about the application process or the upcoming application deadline, please contact OGH.
