SLHS Admissions Information

The SLHS program begins in August of each year. Please visit the link below for deadline information. The online application and all supporting documentation must be received by the deadline. Applicants will be informed of admissions decisions by May 1st.

Admissions Requirements

1. Online Application

2. Application Fee

The TTUHSC Application Fee of $40 can be paid through the online application by credit card. You may also pay by check or money order; mail a check or money order to the Office of Admissions and Student Affairs (3601 4th Street MS 6294, Lubbock, TX 79430). Please make checks and money orders payable to "TTUHSC." Your application will not be considered for admission until your fee has been paid.

3. Official Transcripts

The Office of Admissions and Student Affairs must receive a current, official transcript from every institution that you've attended. If you have attended TTU or TTUHSC, you only need to send official transcripts from the other institutions you've attended. Transcripts must be in a sealed envelope from the institution and must have been printed within the last year. Please send all official transcripts to the following address:

4. Minimum GPA

A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 is required; this includes all courses taken at every institution attended. 

5. Prerequisites for SLHS Traditional Program

All prerequisite courses must be complete prior to when the program begins in August. Students may be enrolled or planning to enroll in prerequisite coursework at the time they apply, as long as all prerequisite coursework will be complete by August 15th

Note:  For the Natural Sciences requirement, our department requires one Life Science course (animal biology, human anatomy and physiology, or genetics) and one Physical Science course (physics or chemistry).

For the Core Component/Area Option courses, our department requires 6 additional credit hours in the Social & Behavioral Science/Individual or Group Behavior category.

6. International Applicants

All foreign coursework must be evaluated by a Foreign Credential Service. We also require TOEFL/IELTS Scores for any applicant for whom English is a second language (scores are considered on a case by case basis). Application Process

Fulfillment of the basic requirements does not guarantee admission. The admissions committee selects the most qualified applicants for admission by considering cumulative GPA and prerequisite GPA.
