McAfee VirusScan
Welcome to the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center web site for the McAfee VirusScan Software download.
VirusScan for Windows and for Macintosh are available at no cost to Faculty, Staff and Students of TTUHSC for use on personal/home computers. The download software must not be used on TTUHSC computers. An institutional version of these products is available for all TTUHSC computers under a different license agreement.
This agreement with McAfee encompasses all TTUHSC campuses, including distance-education students.
This is copyrighted software, and must not be distributed to people who are not associated with TTUHSC. Therefore, you can only download this software with a valid eRaider account.
If you are attempting to download the software from any computer on the TTUHSC network, you will note that the software is not listed on the download site. This is because the version of McAfee Software available for download is for home use only and cannot be downloaded to any computer connected to the TTUHSC network.
Download McAfee Software
You must login with your eRaider account to download McAfee software.
- Sign in to your eRaider Account at https://eraider.ttuhsc.edu.
- Click on the Manage your eRaider Account link.
- Select the Software Download button from the Navigation menu.
- Click on the link for anti-virus software.
Windows Users (Windows XP, Vista and 7)
- Download the McAfee VirusScan Enterprise Edition 8.8 file, McAfeeVS8_8.exe, to your desktop.
- From this location, double-click the file to run the installation.
- Follow the steps throughout the installation.
- If asked the license expiration type, select Perpetual from the drop-down menu, accept the terms and click OK to continue.
- Next through the screens, making no changes, and then select Finish.
- McAfee will automatically check for updates and run a full scan.
Mac OS X Users
- Download the McAfee VirusScan for Mac 1.1 file, McAfee Security for Mac-Anti-malware-1.1-RTW-1309.dmg, to your desktop.
- Double-click and extract the installation files to a location on your computer.
- From this location, double-click on the file and follow the installation steps with the default settings.
