PPP Information

TTUHSC Computer Services is pleased to announce a new remote dial-up service, which will allow faculty, staff, and students to attach personal computers directly to the TTUHSC network (TTUHSCnet) and the Internet via a high-speed modem connection and PPP software from home.

Below are several questions and answers that will describe this new service. Should you have further questions, please contact Ron Messall at Computer Services (743-2870).

PPP stands for Point-to-Point Protocol and allows personal computers to dial-in to TTUHSCnet using a high-speed modem and connect to services at TTUHSC and Internet computers all over the world directly from home. The same TCP/IP software applications used by Ethernet attached computers will now be usable from home with this new access service.

How do I obtain a TTUHSCnet PPP account?

Personal accounts may be obtained from the Computer Services Account Administrator during normal weekday business hours (9-12, 1-4). The fee for a TTUHSCnet dial-up account is $90 per year or $45 per semester (Fall, Spring, or Summer) with a valid Texas Tech HSC ID. Payment may be either cash, check or by approved Interdepartmental Voucher. If payment is to be made from a departmental account, please have the account number and letter of authorization with you. Payment by check will be accepted on local banks with proper identification.
