Laura W. Bush Institute for Women's Health - Amarillo

COMMUNITY EDUCATION
- Annual Women's Health Symposium now in its seventh year
- National Speaking of Women's Health Foundation's Hablando de la Salud de la Mujer Symposium, one of five bilingual programs in the nation, planning to reach more than 800 women in 2008
- Health education sessions in partnership with the Amarillo Alumnae Chapter of Delta Theta Sorority and Amarillo Area Breast Health Coalition
- Proposed collaboration with Window On the Wider World (WOWW!) a, division of the Amarillo Globe-News Center for the Performing Arts dedicated to the education of Panhandle children. The WHRl would join other science-related institutes in a multi-level experience for children.
- Educated more than 1,000 women annually
MEDICAL EDUCATION
- Women's Health Fellowship Program, one of 20 in the nation
- The Distinguished Visiting Professorship in Women's Health
- Rotations for medical students, residents and nursing students
RESEARCH
- Seed Grant Program has resulted in three investigators securing NIH funding and the establishment of the Center of Excellence in Osteoporosis
- Summer Student Research Internship Program for high school and college students
- The Mrs. J. Avery "Janie" Rush Endowed Chair in Women's Health and Oncology
COMMUNITY SUPPORT
- Northwest Texas Healthcare System provides financial support and representatives have served on the WHRl Board of Trustees since inception
