Research
This Area of Excellence is for research scientists who spend the majority of their time performing women's health and gender based medicine research.
Laura W. Bush Institute researchers are unlocking the mysteries of how the female body works, developing new and better ways to treat diseases, cultivate collaborations between the basic scientist and healthcare providers and translate from bench to bedside innovative techniques to treat women.
TTUHSC Researchers awarded the designation of LWBIWH Area of Excellence Research have achieved great distinction and set a standard of excellence that may serve as a model for programs and other research throughout the Institute. Investigation includes the development of innovative methods/technologies and/or other novel applications of existing methods and technologies.
Criteria for being chosen as an LWBIWH Researcher of Excellence:
- research training in women's health bringing a unique or critical expertise to the biomedical research team.
- participation in large collaborative and multidisciplinary women's health research as well as those conducting research individually or in small groups.
- demonstrated scholarship, which may include first or senior author publications of original research, and/or publications from large multidisciplinary studies on which the candidate was in another authorship position and to which the candidate made documented, significant intellectual contributions.
- successful extramural funding record including but not limited to National Institutes of Health
