Granville T. Hall, M.D., Chair

Granville T. Hall, M.D., Chair for Obstetrics and Gynecology

The purpose of the Hall Endowed Chair is to elevate the platform of the unique health care needs of women.  This Chair will be a practitioner and experienced leader in women’s health. The Chair will educate future physicians in women’s health care in a holistic manner, mindful of all the various female health care issues: physical, mental, sexual, social, spiritual, and occupational.

Granville T. Hall, M.D., was a general physician and surgeon who practiced in Big Spring, Texas.  Seeing a need, he and M.H. Bennett, M.D., established the first hospital in the community in 1928.  As a physician in a small town, Dr. Hall’s practice was not limited to any one area of medicine, and a large portion of his time was dedicated to the care of women during pregnancy.  F. Marie Hall, Dr. Hall’s daughter, honors her father’s lifetime commitment to this profession and compassion by which he delivered his healing arts by naming this Chair in Obstetrics and Gynecology in memory of her father, Granville T. Hall, M.D.
