Yan Zhang, Ph.D.
Yan Zhang, Ph.D., assistant professor in the Division of Health Services Research and Management in the Department of Family and Community Medicine, is conducting research on health services targeting vulnerable populations of the elderly, women, and minorities. She has extensive knowledge in research methodology and statistical principles and techniques. In addition to designing clinical and epidemiology studies with respect to different diseases, Dr. Zhang’s research includes evaluation of health behaviors and assessment of the effectiveness of medical interventions.
Dr. Zhang, along with Dr. Leigh Johnson, will work within our Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center community of women’s health faculty. They are already involved in a number of research projects investigating issues related to women’s health, such as cancer, obesity, cognitive functioning, and cardiovascular risk. Many of these projects focus specifically on factors that influence the health of women living in rural West Texas.
The goal of this research is to contribute to the medical community’s knowledge regarding women’s health and further the mission of LWBIWH to promote the well-being of women and their families through scientific advancement.
