Sports Medicine Fellowship

Drs. Mitchell and Islas


  • Graduate of an Accredited Program in Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine or Pediatrics
  • Must be licensable in the State of Texas
  • USMLE passed in the first two attempts for each step
  • Apply through ERAS only.

How to Apply

Applications for the Sports Medicine Fellowship should be submitted through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).

Please include the following:
Application, Personal Statement, CV, 3 Letters of Reference, Dean's Letter of Reference, Medical School Transcripts, USMLE Official Transcripts and ECFMG Certification, if applicable

  • $55,129 yearly salary for 2016-2017
  • Moving allowance up to $1250
  • Health, Life and Dental Insurance for fellow and immediate family
  • Disability, Malpractice & Workers' Compensation Insurance for Fellow
  • Name-embroidered lab coats
  • 20 days of paid vacation
  • Annual Residency/Fellow Retreat
  • Five days and $1,000 for approved CME courses
  • Dept. pays 1/2 of expenses when fellow presents nationally
  • ACLS re-certification tuition provided
  • Fellowship pays for in-training exam
  • Fellows are eligible to use TTU Recreation Center Facilities including lazy river, weight room, climbing wall, & indoor pool
