Psychiatry Rotations by year

PGY-I Rotations

The PGY-I year consists of rotations in the following areas:

  • 4 months of Primary Care Medicine
    • This includes Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, and Family Medicine
  • 2 months of Neurology
  • 6 months of Inpatient Psychiatry

PGY-II Rotations

The PGY-II year consists of rotations in the following areas:

    • 3 months of Emergency Psychiatry (also known as Night Shift)
    • 3 months of Child/Adolescent Psychiatry
    • 3 months of Consultation Liaison Psychiatry
    • 1 month of elective time
    • 1 month in Addiction Psychiatry
    • 1 month in Geriatric Psychiatry
    • Half day per week in Adult Outpatient General Psychiatry for experience in supportive psychotherapy

PGY-III Rotations

The PGY-III year consists of rotations in the following areas:

  • Residents complete rotations in General Adult Outpatient Psychiatry (12 months)
  • 1 month full-time equivalent rotation in Child/Adolescent Psychiatry
  • Residents will also have ongoing exposure to patients in a Community Mental Health Setting at Federally Qualified Health Centers
  • Longitudinal outpatient psychotherapy experience

PGY-IV Rotations

The PGY-IV year consists of rotations in the following areas:

  • 2-3 months of Inpatient Psychiatry in a supervisory role as a junior attending (required)
  • 9 months of Electives

 

Each Tuesday all Residents will have Didactic training from 1:00 pm till 5:00 pm.
