Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst tours Paul L. Foster School of Medicine in El Paso

EL PASO-The Paul L. Foster School of Medicine, under construction on the campus, was toured by Lt. Gov. Dewhurst on Sept. 19.  During the 80th Legislative Session, Lt. Gov. Dewhurst secured $48 million in the 2008-2009 state budget to fund faculty for Texas' first new four-year medical school in 30 years.  The appropriation will fund first- and second-year faculty at the medical school, completing the first phase of development and making full accreditation possible.  The institution is scheduled to enroll its first four-year students in 2009.
