TTUHSC President invites Lubbock residents to attend medical school
President John C. Baldwin, M.D., invites the community to gain first-hand medical school experience through a series of public lectures.
The first Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center Community Medical School presentation will be 6 to 8 p.m. April 15 in the TTUHSC Academic Classroom Building, Room 100.
“We invite the community to experience the flavor of medical school and share the wonders of the human body and our passion for research,” Baldwin said.
Steven Berk, M.D., dean of the School of Medicine will be the first expert to inform Lubbock residents with his presentation titled, “Exposing the Physical Examination – What Your Doctor is Doing and Why.” Berk will examine a patient in front of the audience and explain each step of the process.
The next Community Medical School classes for this spring are as follows:
6-8 p.m., April 22, ACB 100, Everado Cobos, M.D.: “Cancer 101.”
6-8 p.m., April 29, ACB 100, Randolph Schiffer, M.D.: “Cognition and Aging – Are Senior Moments Inevitable?”
6-8 p.m. May 6, ACB 100, John C. Baldwin, M.D., “How Do You Operate on a Moving Organ That Keeps You Alive? Heart Surgery in 2008.”
