LUBBOCK - The Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine first- year students will host the 12th annual City Lights Charity Ball benefiting local charities in Lubbock.
The event will take place at 6 p.m. Saturday (March 14) at the Lubbock Country Club located at 3400 Mesa Road. Past City Lights events have raised more than $225,000 for charities directly benefiting the Lubbock community. City Lights is organized entirely by the TTUHSC School of Medicine Class of 2012 students.
This year, in conjunction with the Rawls Golf Course, the 5th Annual City Lights Golf Tournament will take place on Friday (March 13). The event includes a 4-person golf scramble with sign-in beginning at 11:30 a.m. The tournament will include hole-in-one and closest to the pin contests.
City Lights allows medical students to give back to the community through contributions to charities. The money raised by the charity events this year will benefit University Medical Center Children’s Hospital which is a partner of Children’s Miracle Network, Hope Lodge and the Refuge Services.
Executive co-chairs for the event are Neha Amin and Jon Nelson. Amin said the students take pride in getting involved in a community event. “We are excited to host an event that brings the community together for a night of dinner, dancing and a silent auction to benefit three very deserving charities,” she said.
Tickets for the charity ball are $170 for a couple and $100 per individual. Discounted ticket prices are available for TTUHSC and UMC Health System physicians.
Charity ball tickets must be purchased in advance. Ticket prices for the golf tournament are $400 for a team of four or $100 per individual. Tickets for the tournament are available the day of the event.
