Carol Boswell, Ed.D., R.N., professor and co-director of the Center for Evidence-Based Practice of the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center Anita Thigpen Perry School of Nursing in the Permian Basin, was one of three nursing leaders recently sworn in as governors of the National League for Nursing (NLN) at the organization’s Annual Business Meeting in Philadelphia, Pa.
Boswell will serve a three-year term to expire in 2012, along with Rumay Alexander, Ed.D., R.N., associate clinical professor and director of the Office of Multicultural Affairs in the School of Nursing at University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill; and Pamela Di Vito-Thomas, Ph.D., R.N., C.N.E., director of nursing in the nursing program of Coffeyville Community College in Coffeyville, Kan.
Boswell has been involved with the NLN for several years, serving as chair of the Nursing Educator Workforce Development Advisory Council and a member of the Task Group on Programs that Facilitate Faculty Development. She was also a member of the National League for Nursing Accrediting Council Board of Review.
The NLN promotes excellence in nursing education to build a strong and diverse nursing workforce. Members include nurse educators, education agencies, health care agencies and interested members of the public. The NLN offers faculty development programs, networking opportunities, testing and assessment, nursing research grants, and public policy initiatives to its 28,000 individual and 1,200 institutional members.
