The National League for Nursing Foundation for Nursing Education (NLNFNE) announced faculty members for the NLN/Johnson & Johnson Faculty Leadership and Mentoring Program. Sharon Decker, R.N., Ph.D., and Carol Boswell, R.N., Ed.D., both from the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center Anita Thigpen Perry School of Nursing were named.
Boswell is a professor and co-director of the Center for Evidence-Based Practice and coordinator for the Traditional Program Expansion. Decker is professor and director of Clinical Simulations and the Covenant Health System Endowed Chair in Simulation and Nursing Education.
The program, which started in 2007 as a partnership between the National League for Nursing and the Johnson & Johnson Campaign for Nursing's Future, pairs five early and mid-career faculty members with five NLN Academy of Nursing Education fellows.
The application process matches protégés and mentors based on their interests and experience. Between October 2009 and September 2010, protégés and mentors will work together on individual leadership development as well as a group project to be presented at the 2010 NLN Education Summit in Las Vegas.
