It is our great pleasure to announce that the ACGME has approved a standalone General Surgery program at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center at the Permian Basin. The Chairman, Neal Ellis, M.D. has assembled a faculty ready to train residents at the highest academic level. The participating hospitals: Medical Center Hospital, Midland Memorial Hospital, Odessa Regional Medical Center and a host of others, will provide a robust caseload in all aspects of surgical training. A state of the art simulation center will give our trainees the opportunity to develop excellence in technique in a consequence free environment and provide both confidence and competence in the operating room. Our commitment to research is highlighted by a dedicated investigator, Dinesh Vyas, M.D. and is supported by the rest of the TTUHSC at the Permian Basin faculty in their on-going projects.

We look forward to the interview season for the 2016-2017 academic year, where we have the opportunity match four categorical and four preliminary residents through ERAS.
