Joseph Bishara
Joseph Bishara
Joseph BisharaJoseph works closely with other team members to create websites, brochures, and videos for the public. He has contributed to more than 70 educational multimedia titles, earning awards since 1992. He was the lead researcher and developer of the first state-funded multimedia secondary biology course in America. In 2001, he earned a Master of Education degree from Texas Tech University, where he focused on integrating research into the improvement of education. Bishara has taught courses including physics, mathematics, and video production.
Dave Lefforge, MBA, MS
Dave Lefforge
Dave LefforgeDave Lefforge, MBA, MS, joined the F. Marie Hall Institute for Rural and Community Health in January 2007 as the Chief Operating Officer, after completing 30 years of service to the nation as an officer in the U.S. Air Force. While serving in the Air Force, he was a pilot, commanded many organizations and completed several high-level staff positions. He then sought to continue serving his community by becoming a member of the Institute where he is focused on improving health for West Texans.

Dave's many roles within the Institute include being a leading member of our Pandemic Influenza project. In addition to professional credentials and memberships in professional organizations, he holds multiple academic degrees from the University of Arizona, Golden Gate University and the National War College.
Cathy Hudson, BS, CCRC
Cathy Hudson
Cathy HudsonCathy holds a B.S. in Biology from Texas Tech University. She began her career with Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in 1990. Her background includes 10 years of basic science research in the area of Nephrology, and 8 years experience in coordinating clinical trials and research involving human subjects. She has authored and co-authored numerous abstracts and manuscripts and her professional memberships include the Association of Clinical Research Professionals and the Society of Clinical Research Associates. Cathy is currently enrolled in the Certificate of Public Health program through the University of Texas School of Public Health.
Gordon Gong
Dr. Gordon Gong
Gordon Gong, MDGordon Gong joined the Rural Health Research Group after working as a faculty member at Hereditary Cancer Institute and Osteoporosis Research Center, Creighton University since 1994. His most recent publications involve biostatistics, genetic epidemiology, and human population genetics.

After graduation in 1970 from Harbin Medical University, Harbin, China, Gordon worked as a surgeon and then a physician till 1979. Gordon obtained a Masters degree from Capital University of Biomedical Sciences, Beijing, China after training in cardiology research (1979-1982). He worked as a cardiologist and assistant professor in this University until 1984. He came to the US in 1986 and worked as a postdoctoral fellow at Department of Pharmacology, University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas (1986-1988).

Erin BraddockOriginally from the Texas Gulf Coast, Erin graduated from Texas Tech University in the spring of 2004 with a B.A. in Psychology. As a former psychology major and sociology minor, her interests lie mainly in the effects of the environment on individuals and groups and the disparities caused by socioeconomic influences. During her undergraduate studies, Erin was a member of the Honors College and also participated as a mentor in the PEGASUS Program for First Generation College (FGC) students. Her future plans include entering a health-related masters program.

The Rural Health Research Group is located in Suite 301A at the Texas Tech Plaza (the Bank of America building at 19th and University). The Rural Health Research Group is the research arm of the F. Marie Hall Institute for Rural and Community Health at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center.
