Visitor Information

Visiting Amarillo

We would like to facilitate your visit to the School of Pharmacy. Whether you are flying or driving, this information should be helpful.

If you are visiting for student interviews in the months of February and March, you will most likely find the weather cool in the days (avg 55 degrees) and cold (average 22-28 degrees) at night. This can vary considerably, so be sure to check the forecast. The month of April warms considerably and you would be unlikely to have a night below freezing.

There is no shuttle service between the Amarillo International Airport and hotels in the Medical Center.

All prospective students should identify themselves as such when making a reservation to receive special rates.

Also identify yourself at time of check-in and if the hotel offers transportation to the school, make sure they are aware that you will be needing it.

The most conveniently situated motel to the Pharmacy school (3 blocks, no sidewalk) is the Best Western Amarillo Inn, 1610 S. Coulter, (806) 358-7861. However, the motel does NOT pick up at the airport nor will they guarantee bringing you to the school. Identify yourself as a prospective student to the School of Pharmacy.

The Marriott Residence Inn (806) 354-2978 and the Marriott Fairfield Inn (806) 351-0172 are also convenient to the school, but NOT within walking distance. If you are a visiting student, the Fairfield Inn will assist in transportation the morning of your interview.

The Holiday Inn (806) 372-8741 and the Holiday Inn Express (806) 356-6800 offer transportation to and from the airport. The Holiday Inn will also bring students to the school on the morning of the interview and pick them up that evening. The Holiday Inn is not close to either the Pharmacy School or the restaurants listed in the next section. Their offer of transportation makes this hotel a consideration. The Holiday Inn Express offers a continental breakfast.
